HVAC Estimator/Project Manager

Job Description

The HVAC Estimator/ Project Manager provides estimating for mechanical systems to include, furnaces, air conditioners, ductwork design and new and remodel construction projects. This includes project estimating, bidding, budgeting, scheduling, cost control, labor management, material procurement, quality control, jobsite safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC materials and equipment
  • Estimate labor costs, material costs, equipment, and subcontracted work
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
  • Prepare detailed and accurate project cost estimates and bid proposals
  • Perform jobsite visits and assist installers and contractors with scheduling of projects
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and pricing data
  • Track changes in material costs, labor rates, and market conditions
  • Assist with change order pricing as needed

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years field experience installing residential and commercial hvac systems and duct systems
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and installation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Proficiency with computers, duct drawing and load calculation software
  • Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of local building codes and industry standards
  • Experience with commercial and/or residential HVAC projects
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines

Work Environment

  • Office-based with occasional site visits
  • May involve extended screen time and deadline-driven workloads
