River City Municipal Band Begins its 37th Summer Season

The River City Municipal Band will begin its 37th summer season with rehearsals starting this Monday, May 5.  Band rehearsals will be once a week on Mondays through July 21, 6 to 8 p.m., in the Clinton Middle School band room.

All area musicians are invited to come join the band -- all ages and abilities are welcome and there are no auditions.  Simply bring your instrument and show up.  An exterior door to the band room is visible from the parking lot.

The band is conducted by Patrick Brooks, band director at Clinton High School. He will lead the band in a variety of music including patriotic fare, Broadway songs, movie and television music, and traditional concert pieces.

Sarah Lind is the president of the organization and encourages all area musicians to come play with the group. “If you’ve ever played a band instrument at any time in your life, we’d love to have you join the summer band!” said Lind.

“We welcome all ages and abilities, young students to adults, and all are needed.  It’s just a lot of fun to all get together and bring live band music to the summer events in our community.”

The band will perform eight times this summer, with concert in Clinton, Fulton, Camanche, and DeWitt.  All performances are free and open to the public.
